Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1904, in very good condition with 80% finish. 4/5 Bore (light pitting throughout). 4/5 Stock. All matching serial numbers.
On the right side of the stock, there is an area of light surface gouging at the rear of the butt and light gouging along the comb. The retrofit pistol grip is beginning to separate from the stock. Heavy pressure marks before the finger groove. Numerous marks around and in front of the finger groove. On the left side of the stock, there are a pair of heavy gouges in front of the rear sling mount. Light gouging between the finger groove and rear barrel band. Light gouge in front of the rear barrel band. On the underside of the stock, there is a heavy pressure mark and mild gouge on the right side of the magazine plate, in front of the trigger guard. Heavy pressure marks and mild gouging in front of the magazine plate. Light gouging at the rear of the comb and a heavy gouge at the receiver tang. Handguard has a light gouge on the right side between the ferrule and rear barrel band.
Receiver has mild to heavy finish wear and mild patina throughout. Light surface marks throughout the receiver, and a heavy surface mark on the rear edge. Both barrel bands have heavily worn finish. Magazine plate and trigger guard have heavily worn finish and mild patina.
Receiver is P31 stamped, indicating privatization in 1931.
