W+F Bern Swiss 1889 - sn 91xxx
Swiss 1889 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1892, in very good condition with 85% finish. 4/5 Bore (bore is in excellent condition, except for two small spots of heavy pitting at the start of the rifling. 4/5 Stock. All matching serial numbers.
Both bolt knobs are cracked.
On the right side of the stock, there are light gouges along the bottom of the butt. Light scratch and a heavy pressure mark behind the front barrel band. On the left side of the stock there is a heavy gouge below the finger groove. On the underside of the stock there are heavy gouges on the grip and a heavy pressure mark behind the rear barrel band. Light gouging along the comb.
Receiver has light to mild finish wear and light patina throughout. Both barrel bands have light finish wear and light patina. Heavy pitting on the trigger guard.
The receiver was double stamped with a P, followed by an A, over 08. Privatized in 1908, but we are unable to determine the meaning of the A stamp
