Swiss 1889 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1892, in very good condition with 80% finish. 3/5 Bore (light to mildly worn rifling). 3/5 Stock. All matching serial numbers.
Both bolt knobs are cracked.
Firing pin ring has an armory repair.
On the right side of the stock there are light gouges at the rear of the butt. Swiss ordnance stamp has been filled in with paint. A letter K and second illegible mark painted to the right of the ordnance stamp. Light gouging between the barrel bands. On the left side of the stock there is a heavy pressure mark at the rear of the butt and mild pressure marks throughout the butt. Heavy gouging on the woodline below the receiver, forward of the wrist. Heavy pressure mark before the rear barrel band. On the underside of the stock there is heavy gouging in front of the magazine plate. Handguard has light gouging before the rear barrel band.
Receiver finish is heavily worn. Rear barrel band is approaching white. Front barrel band has heavily worn finish. Magazine plate and trigger guard has heavily worn finish and light pitting.
P stamped receiver.
A sheet metal stopper had been installed to prevent the magazine from being disengaged with the magazine lever.
