Swiss 1889 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1891, in very good condition with 80% finish. 5/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock. All matching serial numbers.
Upper bolt knob is cracked and chipped. Lower bolt knob is cracked.
On the right side of the stock, there are light gouges on the grip. On the left side of the stock, at the forward end of the comb there is a heavy gouge that had been repaired with wood filler. Light gouges behind the rear barrel band. Light gouge halfway between the barrel bands, between the stock and handguard. On the underside of the stock, there are small holes next to the magazine plate, possibly caused by insects. Light gouge behind the front barrel band. Light gouge at the rear of the comb. Heavy gouge at the receiver tang. On the right side of the handguard, there are heavy gouges between the barrel bands. On the top side of the handguard there are heavy pressure marks behind the front barrel band.
Receiver finish is lightly worn. Light patina throughout the receiver. Heavy pitting on the operating rod. Pitting on the bolt. Light pitting on the top of the barrel shank. The top of the rear barrel band has mildly worn finish and heavy pitting. Front barrel band has mildly worn finish and heavy pitting on the edges. Mild to heavy pitting on the magazine plate and magazine.
Receiver is P23, stamped, indicating privatization in 1923.
