Turkish Mauser, commonly known as the Model 1938 in the US, reworked from the original rifle in 1937, in fair condition with 50% finish. 2/5 Bore (dark bore, worn rifling, mild pitting throughout). Bolt non-matching serial number. Tangent sight matching serial number.
Heavy pressure marks throughout the right side of the stock. Pair of heavy gouges near the center of the comb. Multiple heavy gouges along the bottom, near the trigger guard and magazine. On the left side of the stock, there are heavy pressure marks on the grip. Mild gouging below the receiver. Heavy gouge near the rear sight. Pair of heavy pressure marks between the stock and handguard, forward of the rear sight. Heavy gouge behind the rear barrel band. Pressure mark around the forearm just before the front barrel band suggests that a different barrel band may have been installed at some point in the past. On the underside of the stock, there is a long, thin gouge in front of the trigger guard.
Receiver finish is heavily worn and has heavy patina and mild pitting throughout. Finish wear and light to mild pitting throughout the barrel. Heavy pitting on the rear barrel band. Heavy finish wear and light pitting on the front barrel band. Trigger guard and magazine has heavy patina.
Part of the rear barrel band spring had previously broken off. Remainder of the spring remains in the stock.
Receiver is stamped with "T C" "ASFA ANKARA" "1937" with Turkish crescent moon and star.
