The Thai Type 91 was originally a Japanese Type 38 Arisaka. It was rebuilt/reworked, the stock reworked to resemble the US M1 Carbine stock, the barrel was shortened, and issued to either Thai military or Thai police. This example was manufactured for Thai police as the police crest is found on the receiver, the rear sight is the original Type 38 tangent sight, the dust cover is present, the bolt is straight instead of down turned, and the forward end of the stock is rounded instead of squared.
