Product Description
Remington M1917 Enfield, produced in 1918, in very good condition with 90% finish. 4/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock.
Rifle was originally acquired by the British military from Remington for use as a drill rifle, as denoted by the "DP" stamp on the right side of the stock at the butt and on the left side of the receiver ("Drill Purpose"). However the rifle does not appear to have been deactivated, the barrel does not have a hole drilled into it, and the bore is unobstructed and completely rifled. The barrel is stamped with "R" for Remington, US ordnance stamp, and with date "4-18", so the barrel is original to the rifle and not a replacement. Rifle was checked for the ability to chamber, extract, and eject 30-06 without issue.
British import stamps found underneath the rear of the handguard. British Birmingham proof mark and US shell & flame (flaming bomb) ordnance stamp on the left side of the receiver. Bolt handle is stamped with US ordnance stamp and "T".
On the right side of the stock, there is a fair gouge below the woodline, below the receiver. Long, heavy pressure mark in front of the rear barrel band starting from the handguard. On the left side of the stock, the finish is lightly worn from the forward end of the grip to the finger groove. Light gouging before the front barrel band. On the underside of the stock, there is a thin gouge in front of the front trigger guard screw. Handguard has light gouging at the rear end, mild gouging around the rear barrel band.
Receiver has light to mild edge wear throughout. Mild finish wear over the ejection port. Mild finish wear on the bolt release. Heavy finish wear on the rear barrel band. Light finish wear and light patina on the front barrel band. Mild finish wear throughout the trigger guard. Heavy surface mark on the edge of the trigger guard.
