Antique Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1898, in very good condition with 85% finish. 4/5 Bore (lightly worn rifling). 3/5 Stock. All matching serial numbers.
Retrofit pistol grip is securely inserted but there is a definite gap between the stock and the pistol grip.
Handguard has an unrepaired 6" crack between the barrel bands.
On the right side of the stock there are mild to heavy gouges on the butt near the comb. Light gouging before the finger groove. Heavy gouging halfway between the barrel bands. On the left side of the stock there are light gouges throughout the butt. There is a brass plaque on the butt that reads "Paul Rossé Berlincourt J.B.". Light gouging on the wrist. Heavy gouge before the finger groove. Mild pressure marks and light gouges before the rear barrel band and light gouging in front of the rear barrel band. On the underside of the stock there is red paint before the front barrel band. Light gouging along the comb.
Receiver has lightly worn finish and heavy finish wear over the chamber. Both barrel bands have lightly worn finish and light patina. Magazine plate has lightly worn finish. Trigger guard has light to mild finish wear. Magazine has lightly worn finish.
P37 stamped receiver, indicating privatization in 1937. ·11 stamped below the serial number, indicating armory refurbishment in 1911.
