Product Description
Swiss K31 carbine, produced in 1953, in very good condition with 90% original finish. 4/5 Bore (lightly worn rifling). 3/5 Stock. Stock and handguard non-matching serial numbers; both have serial number 976709 which is associated with a K31 produced in 1952. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
The stock and handguard have a clear coat varnish applied to it by the previous owner. The stock has mostly light handling wear, but there is a crack found at the the heel of the stock; upon removing the butt plate, it appears that this may actually be a splice that had begun to separate at the heel. There is also a small spot of severe wear at the very edge of the butt, above the toe of the stock on the right side. There is a small crack here that partially extends behind the butt plate.
On the right side of the stock there is a pressure mark rear of the grip. On the left side of the stock there is a small pressure mark near the rear barrel band. The underside of the stock has a few small, light pressure marks scattered near the toe. The handguard has two small nicks on the left side at the woodline, two pressure marks on the top side near the base, and scattered light pressure marks in between the two barrel bands.
There is a large sticker on the right side of the stock for the cantonal Schutzenfest held in Zurich Unterland in 1982. The sticker has the silver (white) and blue blazon of canton Zurich, and text in German that translates to "Friendship in Freedom".
Receiver has good bluing with light wear. Expected edge wear around the loading slot. Rear barrel band has good bluing with light patina. Front barrel band had good bluing, with finish wear on the left side at the hinge, right side at the mounting screw, and edge wear around the bayonet lug. Trigger plate has very dark bluing, with a mark found adjacent to the magazine latch. Trigger guard has light edge wear. Magazine base has light edge wear.
