Swiss K31 Carbine, produced in 1937, in very good condition with 90% original finish. 4/5 Bore (lightly dull bore). 3/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
Furniture has many light to mild pressure marks throughout the wood. On the right side of the stock, there are several scratches rear of the grip and some mild pressure marks above the pistol grip. Below the bolt release lever, it appears the previous owner had marked into the wood an incomplete 3D line drawing of a cube. At the woodline there are three marks below the rear sight. On the left side of the stock, there is a small, rough area on the forearm before the front barrel band. On the underside of the stock there is a small gouge at the doe and a pressure mark rear of the pistol grip. There are a couple small gouges on the forearm before the rear barrel band. The comb of the stock has two small gouges and a few pressure marks. The handguard exhibits heavier handling wear than the stock, with many light to mild pressure marks running along the top side, especially between the two barrel bands. There is a small chip on the right side at the woodline before the front barrel band, and on the left side of the handguard there is a chip underneath the front barrel band.
The receiver has very good bluing. Light edge wear found around the loading slot. Light finish wear on the left side at the rear. Rear barrel band has good finish, with light finish wear on the right side, on the underside at the mounting screw, and light patina. The front barrel band has very good bluing, with light finish wear on the right side at the mounting screw and light edge wear around the bayonet lug. Barrel has mild finish wear on the underside. Magazine plate has good bluing with a small mark by the magazine catch and some spots of surface frost. Trigger guard has light edge wear. Magazine has moderate finish wear on the underside and surface frost.
Receiver is P stamped. Soldier's tag found under butt plate.

The Karabiner Model 1931 (K31) is a magazine fed, straight pull, bolt action rifle chambered in 7.5x55mm Swiss Gewehrpatrone 1911 (GP11) that was the standard issue rifle of the Swiss Armed Forces from 1933 through 1958. The K31 was made by Eidgenossische Waffenfabrik Bern, a Swiss federal armory, and is one of the last carbines employed by the Swiss military that is based on the designs by Schmidt and Rubin.
