Swiss K31 Carbine, produced in 1955, in very good condition with 85% original finish. 5/5 Bore. 3/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
Furniture overall exhibits fair to moderate handling and finish wear. There is moderate finish wear around the butt of the stock on both sides, with heavier wear on the left side. On the right side of the stock there are multiple scattered pressure marks and some light gouging. Light pressure marks scattered between the grip and the forend. There is an area of heavy gouging between the forend and the base of the handguard where it looks like the rifle had scraped against another object. On the left side of the stock, there are pressure marks scattered from the grip to the forend. There are patches at the midpoint of the stock where the wood finish has been worn. There is some gouging on the forend in between the two barrel bands. On the underside of the stock there are multiple light pressure marks at the toe. There are multiple small gouges on the forend before the rear barrel band. Handguard has multiple light pressure marks throughout and patches of finish wear. Apart from the gouging previously mentioned, there are a few small gouges on the top side of the handguard in between the base and the rear barrel band. There are several more small gouges in between the front and rear barrel bands.
Butt plate has pitting from heavy rust. The top side of the receiver has a few small marks in the metal as well as a few spots of light pitting. Light to mild edge wear around the loading slot. Light to mild finish wear on the left side of the receiver at the rear. The rear barrel band has some spots of moderate finish wear on the top side. Mild finish wear on the underside at the mounting screw. Front barrel band has mild finish wear on the left side at the hinge, on the right side at the mounting screw, and fair finish wear on the bayonet lug and the stacking arm. Light edge wear around the front sight. Trigger plate has light edge wear around the mounting screws and a few spots of light pitting. Trigger guard has edge wear and light finish wear on the underside as well as some light pitting. Magazine has edge wear around the base and light pitting.
No P stamp on receiver. "57" stamped on tang, indicating arsenal refurbishment in 1957.

The Karabiner Model 1931 (K31) is a magazine fed, straight pull, bolt action rifle chambered in 7.5x55mm Swiss Gewehrpatrone 1911 (GP11) that was the standard issue rifle of the Swiss Armed Forces from 1933 through 1958. The K31 was made by Eidgenossische Waffenfabrik Bern, a Swiss federal armory, and is one of the last carbines employed by the Swiss military that is based on the designs by Schmidt and Rubin.
