Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1915, in very good condition with 80% original finish. 3/5 Bore (lightly dull, light pitting throughout bore). 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
Stock is 1911 Infantry Rifle configuration and has a tiger stripe pattern. Multiple light to mild pressure marks found throughout the furniture. On the right side of the stock there are a couple of light gouges at about the middle of the butt. At the woodline above the right side of the finger groove there is a heavy gouge. On the left side of the stock there is a mild pressure mark above the pistol grip, multiple light pressure marks as if something had been tightly wrapped around the base of the grip, and a series of mild pressure marks at the top of the grip. There are multiple small, light marks at the woodline near the handguard ferrule. On the underside of the stock, there are multiple light to mild pressure marks on the pistol grip. Handguard has a long, mild pressure mark in between the two barrel bands.
Receiver bluing has a green tint and light finish wear overall. Light edge wear around the loading slot and the lightening cuts and mild edge wear at the rear of the receiver. Rear barrel band has light finish wear and light patina, and finish wear on the right side at the mounting screw. Front barrel band has light finish wear on the left side at the hinge, edge wear around the bayonet lug, and light patina. Both barrel bands have tooling marks on their mounting screws. Magazine plate has mild to moderate finish wear. Trigger guard has edge wear, heavy finish wear, and several impact marks on the edge. Heavy patina on the bottom of the magazine.
Receiver is P 55 stamped indicating privatization in 1955.

The Model 1911 rifle is a magazine fed, straight pull, bolt action rifle produced by Eidgenossische Waffenfabrik Bern that employs all of the upgrades of the converted 1896/11 rifle from the factory. The Model 1911 rifle is chambered in 7.5x55mm Swiss Gewehrpatrone 1911 (GP11) and was produced by the Swiss federal armory from 1913 through 1919.
