Antique Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1898, in very good condition with 85% finish. 5/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock. All matching serial numbers.
On the right side of the stock, there is a divot at the butt from a knot in the wood. Mild gouging to the rear of the finger groove. On the underside of the stock, there is a mild gouge at the butt in front of the rear sling mount. Light gouging on the grip. Heavy gouge at the magazine catch.
Receiver finish is mildly worn. Both barrel bands have light to mild finish wear. Light finish wear and multiple surface marks on the magazine plate and trigger guard.
Receiver is P58 stamped, indicating privatization in 1958.
Includes matching serial number 1889/18 bayonet, manufactured by Waffenfabrik Neuhausen, with steel scabbard. The font used for the numbers are visibly different to original numbered bayonets, so it is probable that this bayonet was issued as a replacement to the original soldier. Blade has light pitting on the left side near the guard, but is otherwise in excellent condition. Light surface marks on the pommel. Scabbard has light finish wear.
Includes leather sling. Sling has a metal plate with "Louis Baechler" "Les Bayards" engraved.
