Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1899, in very good condition with 75% finish. 5/5 Bore. 3/5 Stock. Stock matching serial number. Handguard non-matching serial number (212803; 1897 production). Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
On the right side of the stock, there is a heavy gouge at the butt toward the rear. Light gouges around the middle of the butt, toward the comb. Light gouge on the forward edge of the finger groove. On the left side of the stock, there are heavy pressure marks and a light gouge near the center of the butt. Light gouging on the edge of the stock below the receiver. Mild gouging between the finger groove and the rear barrel band. Light scrapes in front of the rear barrel band. Heavy pressure mark before the front barrel band. On the underside of the stock there is a heavy pressure mark at the butt toward the rear. Heavy gouge in front of the magazine catch. Mild gouge at the top of the grip at the receiver tang. Light gouging and heavy pressure marks on the handguard between the ferrule and rear barrel band.
Receiver has heavy finish wear over the chamber and moderate finish wear on the sides. Both barrel bands have light finish wear and light patina. Light edge wear on the trigger guard. Light pitting on the base of the magazine.
Receiver is P 36 stamped, indicating privatization in 1936. ·4 stamp below the serial number, indicating armory refurbishment in 1904.
Both bolt knobs are cracked.
