Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1899, in very good condition with 80% finish. 5/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
Stock had been sanded and refinished with a semi-gloss finish. The finish seems to not have been applied well, and there are specks of debris and stroke marks throughout.
On the right side of the stock, there are a pair of heavy gouges at the center of the butt. Heavy pressure marks around the gouging at the butt. Light gouging in front of the rear barrel band and heavy pressure marks on the forearm between the barrel bands. On the left side of the stock, there are light gouges toward the heel of the butt and light gouging at the rear of the receiver. On the underside of the stock there is a heavy gouge on the pistol grip and a heavy gouge in front of the magazine catch.
Light to mild edge wear throughout the receiver. Mild to heavy finish wear at the rear of the receiver. Rear barrel band has heavy finish wear. Front barrel band has light finish wear. Mild finish wear on the magazine plate and trigger guard. Light surface marks throughout the trigger guard.
Receiver is P 63 stamped, indicating privatization in 1963.
Upper bolt knob is cracked and had been sanded down.
