Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1912, in very good condition with 85% original finish. 3/5 Bore (lightly worn rifling, light to mild pitting throughout). 3/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number. Bolt knobs matching serial number.
Very light tiger stripe pattern on some areas of the stock. Moderate handling and finish wear around the butt of the stock, along with multiple pressure marks,
On the right side of the stock, there are some light pressure marks around the left side of the finger groove, some of which look like were caused by a vise. Very heavy gouge below the right side of the finger groove. Light scrapes on the forearm in between the two barrel bands. On the left side of the stock, there is heavy handling wear at the area between the grip and the right side of the finger groove, with several heavy pressure marks and moderate to heavy gouges. On the underside of the stock there is a small but heavy gouge on the right side of the magazine plate, in front of the magazine catch, and a scuff in front of the magazine plate. The comb of the stock is stamped with an armory rack number of 131993. Small chip at the receiver tang. The handguard has a long, heavy pressure mark on the right side in between the two barrel bands.
Receiver has mostly light finish wear, but there is fair to moderate finish wear around the loading slot. Several surface marks throughout the top side of the receiver. Fair edge wear at the forward edge, moderate edge wear around the loading slot, mild edge wear around the lightening cuts, mild edge wear at the rear of the receiver. Light finish wear on the rear barrel band. Mild finish wear on the front barrel band. Both barrel bands have light patina. Mild finish wear on the magazine plate. Moderate to heavy finish wear on the trigger guard. Light finish wear on the magazine base.
Receiver is P 55 stamped, indicating privatization in 1955.
