Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1907, in good condition with 80% original finish. 3/5 Bore (moderately worn rifling). 1/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number. Bolt knobs matching serial numbers.
There is a crack in the stock, running around both sides of the grip and up to the receiver tang, which has not been repaired.
On the right side of the stock, there are multiple spots of paint throughout the butt. There is scraping and light gouging at the upper rear of the butt and light to mild gouges on the forward end of the butt. Long light to mild gouge to the right of the bolt release lever. Moderate pressure mark on the bottom edge of the finger groove. Multiple pressure marks on the forearm between the finger groove and the rear barrel band. On the left side of the stock, there is finish wear at the butt, as well as some scattered light gouges around the butt. Pair of gouges at the grip. Heavy gouge just forward of the grip, below the receiver. Gouge on the bottom edge of the finger groove and a few gouges above the finger groove, just below the woodline. Light gouging behind the rear barrel band. On the underside of the stock, there is a large, light pressure mark before the pistol grip. Gouge to the right of the magazine plate, in front of the magazine catch. Gouging on the forearm, on the right edge of the rear barrel band spring, and a couple of mild pressure marks. Mild pressure marks along the comb. Chip at the receiver tang. Light to mild pressure marks throughout the handguard.
Receiver has mild patina and mostly mild to fair finish wear throughout. Heavier finish wear over the chamber. Surface marks throughout the rear of the receiver. Both barrel bands have heavy finish wear and mild patina. Mild to fair finish wear on the magazine plate and spots of light pitting. Moderate finish wear on the trigger guard. Heavy finish wear on the magazine base.
Receiver is P 56 stamped, indicating privatization in 1956.
Both bolt knobs are cracked.
