Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1907, in good condition with 75% original finish. 3/5 Bore (slightly dull bore, a few spots of mild pitting). 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number. Bolt knobs matching serial number.
Stock has a faint tiger stripe pattern around the butt. Stock has been partially sanded and refinished. On the right side of the stock there is a small, heavy gouge just below the comb. There are some mild to moderate pressure marks below the bolt release lever. The finger groove edge has been rounded off from sanding. On the left side of the stock there are a few pressure marks on the pistol grip. The finger groove edge has been rounded off from sanding. On the underside of the stock there is a small gouge to the right of the magazine plate. At the heel of the stock there are two small cracks measuring about 1/4" in length, and a small but heavy gouge to the right. Comb is stamped with "FRIBOURG" for Canton Fribourg. Handguard has a pair of scratches on the right side, directly adjacent to the rear barrel band.
Receiver has moderate finish wear overall, light patina, and some light pitting. Fair edge wear around the loading slot, Mild edge wear around the lightening cuts, light edge wear at the front and rear of the receiver. Moderate to heavy finish wear, light patina, and light pitting around the rear barrel band. Fair to moderate finish wear, light patina, and light pitting around the front barrel band. Fair finish wear on the magazine plate. Moderate finish wear and light pitting on the trigger guard. Mild patina on the base of the magazine.
Receiver is P 38 stamped indicating privatization in 1938.
Both bolt knobs are cracked and chipped.
