Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1907, in very good condition with 90% finish. 3/5 bore (lightly dull bore, lightly worn rifling, light pitting throughout). 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
Furniture had been previously completely sanded and refinished with a semi-gloss finish.
On the right side of the stock, there are some fair pressure marks between the bolt release lever and the left side of the finger groove. On the left side of the stock, there is a light gouge on the grip. On the underside of the stock, there is a scratch at the toe and a gouge on the right side of the magazine plate in front of the magazine catch. Light gouge at the receiver tang.
Receiver has heavy patina throughout. There are scattered light surface marks throughout the receiver and a long surface scratch on the right side. Light edge wear around the loading slot and the lightening cuts. Both barrel bands have light finish wear and heavy patina. Rear barrel band has heavy tool marks on the mounting screw. Fair to moderate finish wear and heavy patina on the magazine plate. Fair finish wear and heavy patina on the trigger guard. Moderate finish wear and patina on the magazine.
The barrel is stamped with "WERNER WICHSER" "GLARUS". Wichser Waffen AG is still around to this day, still located in Canton Glarus.
Receiver is P 38 stamped, indicating privatization in 1938.
