Product Description
Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1907, in very good condition with 90% original finish. 5/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number. Rear barrel band non-matching serial number.
Furniture had been sanded and refinished with a high gloss finish. It would be graded 5/5, however the 5/5 grading is limited to original finish. The gloss finish is thick in some areas where it was overapplied or had pooled, and there are some spots of debris embedded in the coat. There is a gouge on the underside of the stock, to the right of the magazine plate, in front of the magazine catch. There are some scattered spots on the handguard where the gloss finish has flaked off.
Receiver finish is lightly worn, with slightly heavier finish wear at the rear of the receiver. Light edge wear around the loading slot, the lightening cuts, and at the rear edge. Small surface marks found throughout the receiver. Light finish wear on both barrel bands. Magazine plate, trigger guard, and magazine have light patina. Magazine plate has a small area of light pitting on the right side. Light edge wear, light finish wear, and surface marks on the trigger guard. Light finish wear on the magazine.
Receiver is P 37 stamped, indicating privatization in 1937.
Both bolt knobs were replaced with aftermarket aluminum knobs by the previous owner.
C&R Eligible. Import engraved.
