Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1906, in very good condition with 75% original finish. 5/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
Furniture has various light to mild pressure marks throughout. On the right side of the stock there is some light paint transfer on the bottom edge above the toe, light gouges below the comb, and some scattered light scratches in the finish above the pistol grip. There is a mild gouge on the grip. There are a pair of heavy pressure marks, one before and one in front of the rear barrel band. On the left side of the stock there is a light gouge below the heel and a very light gouge on the bottom edge near the pistol grip. There are several mild pressure marks along the butt of the stock below the comb. At the woodline near the grip there is a mild gouge. On the forearm there is a group of light gouges near the front barrel band. On the underside of the stock, there are a few small, light gouges on the pistol grip and a small chip rear of the trigger guard. There are a few light scratches on the comb and a gouge at the receiver tang. On the handguard, in front of the rear barrel band there are a pair of gouges approximately half an inch in length.
The comb of the stock is stamped with "VAUD" for Canton Vaud.
Receiver has fair finish wear throughout, with fair to moderate finish wear over the chamber and on the left side of the receiver at the rear. Rear barrel band has moderate to heavy finish wear and light patina. Front barrel band has fair to moderate finish wear and light to mild patina. Mild to fair finish wear on the magazine plate, with an area of heavier finish wear in front of the trigger guard. Fair finish wear on the trigger guard. Fair finish wear throughout the magazine and the base of the magazine has been polished and is in the white.
Receiver is P 57 stamped, indicating privatization in 1957,
