Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1906, in good condition with 80% original finish. 3/5 Bore (dull bore, light to mild pitting throughout). 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number. Bolt knobs matching serial number.
Furniture had been previously sanded. The Swiss military approval stamp on the stock is not visible.
On the right side of the stock, there are some cracks around a knot in the wood below the comb, near the heel. On the forearm before the rear barrel band there are a couple of heavy pressure marks and light gouges. On the left side of the stock, there are a few heavy pressure marks around the butt. There are multiple marks in the area between the grip and the right side of the finger groove. On the forearm in between the two barrel bands there are a pair of light scrapes near the rear barrel band. On the underside of the stock, there is a heavy pressure mark on the right side of the magazine plate, next to the trigger guard. In front of the magazine plate there are a series of light pressure marks and scrapes as well as some light, long pressure marks. Heavy pressure mark on the forearm in between the two barrel bands. Along the comb there are a few light scratches. On the handguard, about halfway between the ferrule and the rear barrel band is a heavy gouge. In between the two barrel bands there are multiple pressure marks in front of the rear barrel band and some light gouges.
Receiver finish is lightly worn and has spots from light pitting throughout. Light edge wear around the loading slot, lightening cuts, and on the front and rear edges. Light patina noted around the loading slot and the chamber. Both barrel bands have light finish wear, light patina, and light pitting. Light to mild finish wear on the magazine plate and the trigger guard. Light to mild pitting on the trigger guard. Light finish wear and light to mild pitting on the magazine base.
Receiver is P 37 stamped, indicating privatization in 1937.
Both bolt knobs are cracked. Lower bolt knob has heavy impact marks.
Rear barrel band spring has no spring tension.
