Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1901, in very good condition with 85% finish. 4/5 Bore (rifling has light to mild wear). 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
Furniture has been previously sanded and refinished. The Swiss military acceptance stamps are no longer visible.
On the right side of the stock, there are a few minor marks on and around the finger groove. Otherwise, there are no major blemishes to note. On the left side of the stock there are a few scattered light gouges around the butt which were left over after sanding. There is a heavy gouge at the top of the grip. There are heavy gouges around the finger groove and a series of gouges to the left of the finger groove. On the forearm in between the two barrel bands there are a few light to mild gouges. On the underside of the stock, there is a heavy gouge on the right side of the magazine plate, in front of the magazine catch. On the forearm there is a minor chip next to the rear barrel band spring, and about halfway between the two barrel bands are a couple of light gouges. The handguard has a few mild gouges between the ferrule and the rear barrel band.
All bluing had been previously refurbished. Receiver has mostly light finish wear throughout, with slightly heavier finish wear at the rear of the receiver. There are also various light scratches throughout the receiver finish. Light edge wear around the loading slot and the lightening cuts. Light edge wear on both barrel bands. Very light to light finish wear on the magazine plate. Light edge wear and light finish wear on the trigger guard. Light finish wear on the base of the magazine.
No P stamp noted on the receiver.
Includes muzzle cover and leather sling.
