Product Description
Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1901, in very good condition with 90% finish. 5/5 Bore. 1/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
Furniture has been previously sanded and refinished as the Swiss military acceptance stamp is not visible. The stock has an unrepaired crack around the receiver tang and extending to the grip on both sides, resulting in a 1/5 grade.
Light pressure marks throughout the furniture. On the right side of the stock there is a scratch on the forearm in between the two barrel bands that runs between the stock and handguard. On the left side of the stock there is heavy handling wear between the grip and right side of the finger groove.
All bluing has been refurbished. The receiver has some surface marks in the metal that have been blued over. Both barrel bands have light patina and light tooling marks. There are a few blemishes in the bluing on the underside of the magazine.
No P stamp found.
Both bolt knobs are cracked. Upper bolt knob is also chipped.
Receiver is stamped underneath the serial number with "·5" over "9" over "11" indicating armory refurbishment in 1905, 1909, and 1911. This means that this 1896/11 was originally an 1889/96, which was armory refurbished both in 1905 and 1909, and converted into an 1896/11 in 1911.
