Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1901, in good condition with 75% original finish. 3/5 Bore (light to mildly worn rifling, light pitting throughout bore). 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
Stock has a tiger stripe pattern throughout. Furniture had been previously sanded.
On the right side of the stock, there are some light pressure marks and light surface scratches around the butt. Light pressure marks below the finger groove. Very light scuffing on the forearm near the front barrel band. On the left side of the stock, there are light pressure marks and light scratches around the butt. Moderate handling wear between the grip and the right side of the finger groove, with finish wear and numerous pressure marks and light scuffs, including a long pressure mark from the grip to the magazine. Small, light gouge before the rear barrel band. On the underside of the stock, there are a pair of metal pins visible on the pistol grip insert, likely to affect a repair. Mild to fair pressure marks around the magazine plate. The comb of the stock is stamped for Canton Fribourg and has a partially illegible armory rack number of 373xx. Handguard has light pressure marks throughout. There are a couple of light gouges in between the two barrel bands.
Receiver has moderate to heavy finish wear over the chamber and at the rear of the receiver. Fair edge wear around the loading slot. Mild edge wear around the lightening cuts. Both barrel bands have mild finish wear and mild patina. Heavy finish wear at the muzzle. Mild finish wear on the magazine plate. Moderate to heavy finish wear and surface marks on the trigger guard. Mild finish wear and light patina on the magazine.
Receiver is P 53 stamped, indicating privatization in 1953. ·7 stamped below the serial number, indicating armory refurbishment in 1907.
Both bolt knobs are cracked.
