Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1901, in very good condition with 80% original finish. 5/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
Rifle was originally an 1889/96 and later converted into the 1896/11.
Furniture has mild handling wear throughout.
On the right side of the stock, there are a few scattered mild to fair pressure marks and a few light gouges around the butt. The grip has several light gouges. Small, light gouge below the right side of the bolt release lever. Mild gouge on the forearm in front of the rear barrel band. On the left side of the stock there are several mild to fair pressure marks, a few light gouges, and some light to mild scratches around the butt. There are some light gouges and pressure marks on the grip. Between the top of the grip and the right side of the finger groove there are multiple mild to fair gouges and pressure marks. Multiple mild to fair pressure marks on and round the finger groove. Moderate pressure mark near the front barrel band. Heavy handling wear at the forward end of the stock, in front of the front barrel band. On the underside of the stock, there are multiple light to mild pressure marks at the toe. Mild gouges on and around the pistol grip. There are a couple of mild gouges to the left and right of the trigger guard. Small gouge on the right edge of the magazine plate, in front of the magazine catch. Mild chipping rear of the receiver tang. On the handguard, in between the ferrule and the rear barrel band there are multiple light pressure marks and some light gouges. Multiple light pressure marks in between the two barrel bands.
Receiver finish is mostly lightly worn, with moderate finish wear over the chamber. Heavy pitting and mild patina around the serial number. Light edge wear around the loading slot and the upper lightening cuts, mild edge wear around the left side lightening cut. Fair edge wear on the right side of the receiver at the forward edge. Rear barrel band has mild finish wear and light patina, and a small area of heavy finish wear. Front barrel band has fair finish wear and light patina. Magazine plate has mild to fair finish wear and multiple surface marks near the magazine catch. Moderate finish wear and light to mild patina on the trigger guard. Moderate to heavy finish wear and mild patina on the magazine base.
The bolt has several surface marks near the serial number.
