Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1899, in good condition with 75% original finish. 3/5 Bore (lightly worn rifling, lightly dull bore with light pitting). 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number. Bolt knobs matching serial number.
On the right side of the stock, there are long, fair to moderate pressure marks on the butt of the stock, and a few long, light to mild pressure marks around the pistol grip. Several mild to fair pressure marks in between the bolt release lever and the left side of the finger groove. On the left side of the stock, there are pressure marks throughout the butt. Large, heavy gouge on the grip. Below the receiver there are several fair pressure marks and a few light gouges. Heavy finish wear on the underside of the stock at the toe. Heavy gouge on the right side of the magazine plate in front of the magazine catch. Mild pressure mark on the forearm, in front of the rear barrel band spring. The comb of the stock is stamped with an armory rack number of 55308. Multiple light gouges along the comb. Mild pressure marks throughout the handguard.
Moderate finish wear, heavy patina, light surface scratches and light pitting throughout the receiver. Fair to moderate edge wear throughout. Rear barrel band has heavy finish wear on the left side, fair to moderate finish wear elsewhere, and tool marks around the mounting screw. Front barrel band has heavy finish wear. Fair finish wear on the magazine plate. Mild to fair finish wear and mild patina on the trigger guard. Fair finish wear, mild patina, and light pitting on the magazine.
Receiver is P 53 stamped, indicating privatization in 1953.
Includes muzzle cover and leather sling.
