Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1897, in very good condition with 80% finish. 5/5 Bore. 3/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
Furniture had been previously sanded and refinished as the Swiss military acceptance stamp on the right side of the stock is nearly gone. There are still numerous pressure marks and gouges present throughout the furniture.
On the right side of the stock there are mild pressure marks throughout the butt. Fair to moderate pressure marks below the bolt release lever. Above the finger groove, there are a couple of light gouges on the top left edge, a mild pressure mark above the left side, and a heavy gouge above the right side. On the forearm in between the two barrel bands, there are various scratches and mild to fair pressure marks. On the woodline there is some gouging on both the stock and handguard. On the left side of the stock, there are light scrapes in the finish and multiple pressure marks throughout the butt. Heavy finish wear at the rear of the butt. Heavy pressure marks along the grip. Heavy handling wear and heavy finish wear between the grip and the finger groove and multiple heavy pressure marks. Mild to fair pressure marks along the forearm. Light gouge in front of the rear barrel band. Gouging on the underside of the stock at the toe. Small, mild pressure marks and a gouge on the right side of the magazine plate in front of the magazine catch. Mild pressure marks on the forearm in between the two barrel bands. Multiple light scrapes in the finish and heavy pressure marks along the comb of the stock. Light gouge at the forward end of the comb and small chipping at the receiver tang.
Moderate to heavy finish wear on the receiver. Surface scratches and surface marks throughout the receiver. Rear barrel band has been refinished, and has light edge wear and light tool marks. Front barrel band has fair finish wear along the top, heavy finish wear on the left and right sides, and heavy finish wear on the bayonet lug and stacking arm. Moderate finish wear on the exposed barrel. Magazine plate, trigger guard, and magazine had been previously refinished. Light edge wear on the trigger guard. Light finish wear and light pitting throughout the magazine base.
No P stamp noted on receiver.
Includes muzzle cover and leather sling.
