Swiss 1889 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1892, in very good condition with 80% finish. 5/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock. All matching serial numbers.
Upper bolt knob is cracked and chipped. Lower bolt knob is cracked.
The ring of the cocking piece is cracked at the rearmost end of the ring.
The stock had been retrofitted to add a pistol grip, just like with the later 1896/11. The magazine plate was cut down to accommodate the retrofit.
On the right side of the stock there is a light gouge on the bottom edge of the finger groove. On the left side of the stock, there are heavy pressure marks throughout the butt. The number "44" is found carved into the stock forward of the grip, below the receiver. Heavy gouging on the bottom edge of the finger groove. Small hole, possibly from an insect, behind the rear barrel band.
Receiver has light to mild finish wear. Light to mild pitting throughout the receiver. Both barrel bands have light finish wear and light pitting. Magazine plate and trigger guard have light finish wear. Magazine has mild to heavy finish wear and heavy pitting.
Receiver is P12 stamped, indicating privatization in 1912.
