Swiss 1889 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1893, in very good condition with 80% original finish. 5/5 Bore. 2/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number. Bolt knobs matching serial numbers.
On the right side of the stock, there are a few gouges around the butt, including a pair of gouges to the right of the Swiss military acceptance stamp, a gouge below the comb, and a gouge at the base of the grip. There is a fair pressure mark at the end of the comb and a heavy pressure mark on the grip above the trigger. There is gouging above the magazine and a pair of heavy pressure marks to the left of the finger groove. On the forearm, about halfway between the two barrel bands there is a gouge. On the left side of the stock, there is a severe gouge on the butt and a few small, heavy gouges above. "St G" is stamped above the right side of the finger groove, likely referring to the canton of St. Gallen. There are multiple moderate to heavy pressure marks and a gouge around the rear barrel band. On the left side of the handguard, there is a heavy gouge before the rear barrel band that extends onto the stock, and there is a small gouge in front of the rear barrel band.
Receiver has moderate to heavy finish wear on the top side around the lightening cuts and on the right side. Fair edge wear around the loading slot and lightening cuts. Mild to fair edge wear at the chamber before the barrel step. Light edge wear at the rear of the receiver. Rear barrel band has heavy finish wear and light patina. Front barrel band has light to mild finish wear. Magazine plate has fair finish wear. Trigger guard has moderate to heavy finish wear. Magazine has mild edge wear.
Upper bolt knob is cracked.
Receiver is P 25 stamped, indicating privatization in 1925.
