Swiss 1889 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1893, in very good condition with 80% original finish. 4/5 Bore (lightly worn rifling). 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
Stock has tiger striping. Light to mild pressure marks found throughout the furniture. On the right side of the stock there are a pair of small gouges near the comb. There is some dark coloration in front of the rear barrel band. On the left side of the stock there is a heavy gouge on the inside of the finger groove. At the forearm near the handguard ferrule there is a large gouge running between the stock and handguard. The comb of the stock has a few heavy gouges. The handguard has a gouge on the top side near the Swiss military acceptance stamp. On the right side of the handguard, before the rear barrel band there is a long scrape and in front of the rear barrel band there is a gouge that extends onto the stock.
Receiver has mild to fair finish wear and mild patina. There are multiple surface marks in the metal throughout the receiver. Mild to fair edge wear around the loading slot. Light to fair edge wear around the lightening cuts. Both barrel bands have mild finish wear and moderate patina. Trigger guard has light edge wear and light pitting. Magazine has fair to moderate finish wear.
Upper bolt knob is cracked.
Receiver is P 34 stamped, indicating privatization in 1934.
Includes muzzle cover and leather sling.
