Antique Swiss Vetterli 1871 in good condition with 70% finish. 3/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock.
Made by W.V. Steiger of Thun as stamped over the serial number.
Stock has a well defined tiger stripe pattern at the butt. Bern Coat of Arms stamped on the barrel in front of the rear sight; Bern Police issued.
On the right side of the stock, there are light gouges on the butt near the heel. Heavy pressure mark on the grip. Light gouge on the upper edge of the forearm, near the checkering. Heavy pressure mark behind the front barrel band spring. On the left side of the stock there is a light scratch on the butt toward the center. Light gouging on the forearm at the checkering. Pair of small holes, possibly caused by a bug, in between the barrel bands. On the underside of the stock there is a heavy pressure mark between the rear sling mount and trigger guard.
Receiver finish is heavily worn at the rear. Rainbow coloration from case hardening on the rear of the bolt, the front barrel band, and the rear sight. Heavy patina throughout the barrel. Multiple light surface marks on the left edge of the barrel, below the rear sight.
Includes cleaning rod mounted underneath the barrel.
