Product Description
Säbel Ordonnanz 1883, made by Alexander Coppel of Solingen, Germany. Also known as a Feldweibelsäbel. Säbel Ordonnanz 1883 was intended for higher non-commissioned officers.
The scabbard is known as a "Type A" which is blackened leather. Scabbard has leather tab for attaching to a leather frog; frog not included.
Red and white portepee is tied to the guard. There is some fraying on one of the portepee's cords.
Right ricasso has serial number of 1751, Swiss military acceptance stamp, and "90" indicating issued year of 1890.
Left ricasso has the maker stamp of "ALEX. COPPEL" [logo] "SOLINGEN".
Fishskin grip is in excellent condition and well preserved. Wire wrapping is tight. Bluing on P-shaped guard, pommel and backstrap is excellent. Leather washer found at the ricasso. Blade is in excellent condition.
The top of the guard is stamped with a "V" over "667".
