Product Description
Swiss model 1889/92 Bayonet (Vierkant-Stichbajonett Modell 1889/92), also known as the model 1892 or as the M1900 Bayonet. No scabbard.
Bluing is fairly dark overall. Edge wear throughout. Small spots of light pitting on the blade. Light finish wear and light patina throughout the muzzle ring.
Muzzle ring measures 15mm in diameter.
These were manufactured by converting an older 1863 or 1871 Vetterli socket bayonet: the socket was removed and a new crosspiece and grip with lock was welded on.
These bayonets were issued to machine gunners, fortress guard, and arguably most famously with Swiss Bicycle Troops, with several service weapons: Schmidt-Rubin 1889, 1896/11, 1897 Kadet Rifle, 1900 Short Rifle, and K11 Carbine. The serial number indicates that it was issued with an 1889 Infantry Rifle produced in 1896.
