Product Description
Swiss Genietruppen (Engineer) Faschinenmesser 1842/52, made by Alexander Coppel of Solingen, with leather scabbard and frog.
Blade is the early sawback type. Light scratches throughout the blade. Leather washer at the ricasso. Ricasso is stamped with "93" below the serial number, either indicating manufacturing year or issue year of 1893. Inventory number "3175" stamped on the guard.
Blackened leather scabbard is a rare original 1842/52 scabbard which doesn't have a brass throat. Leather has some light cracks.
Leather frog has loose stitching on the backside. Name on the sattler stamp is illegible, but it was made in Thun in 1882.
