Product Description
Swiss model 1892/00 Bayonet (Vierkant-Stichbajonett), also known as the model 1889, 1892, 1900, or cyclist bayonet. These were manufactured by converting an older 1863 or 1871 Vetterli socket bayonet: the socket was removed and a new crosspiece and grip with lock was welded on. Includes scabbard.
Bayonet has edge wear throughout and light patina but otherwise dark bluing. Light surface marks throughout.
Scabbard finish is lightly worn and has a few spots of heavy pitting.
These bayonets were issued to machine gunners, fortress guard, and arguably most famously with Swiss Bicycle Troops, with several service weapons: Schmidt-Rubin 1889, 1889/96, 1897 Kadet Rifle, 1900 Short Rifle, and 00/11 / K11 Carbine. The steel scabbard, muzzle ring diameter, and serial number indicates that this would have been issued with a K11 Carbine produced in 1918.
