SIG Swiss Army P49 w/ Holster - sn A175xxx
Swiss SIG P49, part of the 2nd series, 4th delivery to the Swiss Army, is in good condition with 70% original finish. 4/5 Bore. Frame, slide, and barrel matching serial numbers. Bore is bright with lightly worn rifling. Overall bluing is worn. At the rear of the frame on both sides there is a 1" weld bead. No cracks were observed on the inside of the frame. Pistol was serviced and reworked by Hammerli, as evidenced by a Hammerli stamp found on the right side of the frame, underneath the grip, below the magazine safety, and a Hammerli stamp is also found on the inside of the slide, above the firing pin channel.
On the left side of the frame, the bluing is moderately worn at the forward edge. Moderate edge wear continues along the upper edge toward the rear of the frame. Light edge wear continues on the lower edge to the slide stop. Edge wear is also on the edge of the dust cover, and continues toward the front strap. The upper right side of the frame has thin bluing as the area would have been scrubbed prior to the steel frame being welded. There are some light scratches in the bluing below the high area to the left of the slide stop, and some marks in the bluing below the slide stop.
On the right side of the frame is heavy edge wear at the forward edge. Just like on the left side of the frame, moderate edge wear continues along the upper edge, light edge wear continues on the lower edge, and light edge wear on the dust cover continues toward the front strap. The bluing on the upper left area of the frame is thin as this was scrubbed prior to the weld repair. There are a few marks in the finish to the right of the plastic grip, behind the trigger, and some rash and finish wear on the bottom edge of the front strap, with accompanying rash on the magazine base plate.
There is edge wear around the trigger guard, and mild finish wear on the front strap and the underside of the dust cover.
The slide has finish wear at the muzzle, with moderate finish wear on the underside of the muzzle. There is light to mild edge wear on the upper edge of the slide on both sides, which continues onto the top of the slide serrations. Light edge wear on the front and rear sights.
Black plastic grips have good checkering with handling wear. The checkering adjacent to the front strap is dulled. The upper rear area of the grips on the inside have been filed down to accommodate the welding on the frame so the grips will sit flat.
No P stamp on frame. Includes military leather holster with shoulder sling.
C&R eligible. Discreet import engraving. See our How To Order page for ordering instructions.
Originally manufactured in 1947 by SIG in Neuhausen, Switzerland, this pistol was first designated as the SP 47/8 and became the standard military pistol of the Swiss Army in 1949 under the designation Pistole 49 (P49). The military P49 is identified by it's A-Prefix serial number and has a distinct engraving of the Swiss shield above the slide just in front of the rear sight.
Later designated as the P210, this handgun is constructed of steel and is chambered in either 9x19mm or 7.65x21mm Parabellum. The SIG P210 has been manufactured continuously for over 55 years with numerous variations, all of which are highly valued for their historical significance and reputation for surgical accuracy.
