Product Description
German manufactured SIG Sauer P228, in very good condition with 85% original finish. 5/5 Bore. "KJ" date code on the slide chin indicates a proof year of 1998. Slide and frame matching serial numbers. Non-serialized barrel. Non-railed frame.
Frame has some marks in the finish on the right side edge of the trigger guard as well as on the right side of the tang. Mild handling wear on the serrations of the takedown lever, decocking lever, and slide release lever. Light handling wear on the magazine release button. Light finish wear on the serrations on the front strap. Otherwise the frame bluing is very dark.
Slide has finish wear around the muzzle as well as edge wear throughout. Finish/handling wear is apparent on the slide serrations on both sides, as well as the adjacent flat areas where the previous owner would grip the slide to charge the pistol. There is an area of moderate finish wear on the top of the slide in front of the rear sight, including a circular-shaped area, suggesting that this wear may have been due to a rivet on a holster. Edge wear on the front and rear sights also suggest that this pistol has been holstered.
Black plastic grips are in good condition. Three grip screws have light bluing wear. The bottom grip screw on the left grip panel has moderate tooling marks from previous disassembly and reassembly.
Kiel proof house engraving found on the slide chin, as well as a Nitro proof. There is also a shield with the letters "GV" stamped to the right of the SIG SAUER logo on the left side of the slide, indicating that this was property of the Vaud Cantonal Police (Gendarmerie Vaudoise). Barrel is marked with "9mm Para" and BernerProbe proof.
Original Sig Sauer Tritium night sights are installed but the glow has dimmed significantly due to age.
