Model 1889 Bayonet, blade manufactured by Waffenfabrik Neuhausen and assembled at Maschinenfabrik Bern. Blade is in great condition. Light pitting on the pommel and crosspiece. The right side walnut grip appears to have been oversanded before assembly, resulting in a visible small gap at the top of the grip on the inside surface. Included scabbard has a leather tab. Scabbard has multiple scratches, a few large spots of finish wear, and there is also a large dent on the side, visible in the product photo.
These bayonets were issued with the Schmidt-Rubin 1889 Infantry Rifle and 1896/11 Infantry Rifle.
The serial number indicates that this bayonet would have been issued with an 1889 Infantry Rifle produced in 1896.
