M1889/18 Bayonet - sn 225xxx
Steel scabbard with 80% original finish. Leather in excellent condition, made in 1940's. Date stamp is faded. Frosting on the hilt, pommel, and guard. Blade shows grind marks from when it was remanufactured. 4/5
The engraved number matches the original rifle the bayonet was used with. The internal diameter of the crown is in theory of 15mm, but some rare models have been re-crowned to 14mm to be potentially used with a K11 model rifle. The US was inspired by this model to create its 1892 Krag bayonet. It is possible to come across some models where metallic parts were chromed by private companies, but authorized by military authorities.
