Browning Hi Power No. 1 MK I* (Chinese contract), manufactured between August to October 1945 by John Inglis & Co in Canada, in very good condition with 90% finish. 4/5 Bore (light pitting throughout). 4/5 Grips. Frame, Slide, and barrel matching serial numbers.
This pistol was armory refinished. Light surface marks found throughout.
Lanyard ring on the left rear side of the grip.
Rear sight is an adjustable tangent, adjustable from 50m to 500m in 50 meter increments.
Dominion of Canada proof on the frame, slide, and barrel. "C-Broad Arrow" stamp on the frame to the left of the Dominion of Canada proof, indicating property of the Canadian government. German nitro proofs found on the frame (proofed in Munich), slide, and barrel, and caliber engraving on the barrel, which means at some point this was imported into Germany.
Black plastic grips have expected handling wear, with the right side grip showing more wear than the left. Right side plastic grip panel has light gouging in the checkering.
Magazine is correct with aluminum follower and stamped JI (for John Inglis) on both the magazine body and the base plate.
Includes the correct, original production, walnut combination holster butt (Holster, C No1 MkI), manufactured by Small Arms Ltd. in 1945 (stamped at the wrist). One of 29,038 produced. No "Made in Canada" stamp. "Broad arrow" stamp is present, though faint.
Exempt from NFA and is not a Short Barrel Rifle with the stock; no tax stamp required.
