Product Description
This is a scarce Hammerli model 551 single shot, short throw turn-bolt rifle, chambered in .22LR, patterned after the W+F Bern K31 Carbine. It is in very good condition with 97% original finish. 4/5 Bore. 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial number. Bore is bright with lightly worn rifling.
Furniture has handling marks and light pressure marks throughout. The grip has been partially sanded to remove the varnish, possibly to increase grip. On the left side of the stock, near the front barrel band, is a patch of multiple small surface gouges. On the right side of the furniture, there are multiple vertical light pressure marks spanning the stock and handguard in between the two barrel bands.
All metal bluing is excellent. Receiver has a small mark in the metal on the right side at the bottom edge of the ejection port. Light edge wear around the ejection port. Hammerli logo is stamped on the top of the chamber. Rear barrel band is missing the mounting screw.
On the right side of the stock at the butt is a metal plate bearing the original owner's name above "Riva San Vitale T.I." which is a municipality in the Canton of Ticino.
Includes leather rifle sling.
Year of manufacture is unable to be confirmed, therefore this is sold as non-C&R eligible. Discreet import engraving.
