Product Description
This is an exceedingly rare E-prefix Swiss Luger model 1900/06 manufactured by Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken (DWM). It is in Excellent Condition with 95% Original Finish. 5/5 Bore. All visible serial numbers are matching to the firearm. Wood grips are a refurbishment with the inside of the grips having a number 20 struck out and "795" stamped next to it. Top of receiver has a winged Shield with Swiss Cross. The toggle brightly displays the "DWM" manufacturer logo. Swiss military acceptance stamps are throughout the firearm, as seen on the left-hand side of the barrel and left-hand side of the receiver. Edge wear is present on the front of the muzzle, the left side of the forward edge of the frame, right side of the forward edge of the frame, and the rear of the right side of the frame near the toggle. The included magazine has a wood base with metal disk. Included with the Luger is a military acquisitions card from KMV (Kriegsmaterialverwaltung; Swiss Army Inventory Management Department) from when the firearm was curated and carefully stored.
Approximately twenty "E" prefix Lugers were manufactured by DWM as prototype samples for Swiss military testing of the 1900/06 model. The serial number range of these models begin around SN# E771, as noted in Vittorio Bobba’s book, PARABELLUM – STORIA E TECNICA DELLE LUGER SVIZZERE – A TECHNICAL HISTORY OF SWISS LUGERS. An excerpt is included with the preview photos above. Serial Number E771 is located at the Waffenfabrik Bern Museum.
