Product Description
Swiss Army Cavalry Sword, model 1817, with scabbard.
Fishskin grip in fair condition. No wire wrap on grip. Leather finger loop behind guard. Scabbard has been blued. Guard, pommel, and backstrap with blued finish. Edge wear around the guard and the bluing on the pommel and backstrap are worn. On the scabbard, bluing is wearing at the drag.
The underside of the guard is stamped with "23". Leather washer at the base of the blade.
Leather strap with hook and ring are attached to the scabbard's carrying ring.
There are marks along the true edge of the blade where evidently the previous owner had attempted to mechanically sharpen the edge of the blade.
Blade was produced by Gebrüder Weyersberg of Solingen, Germany, as stamped on the left ricasso.
