Antique Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1897, in very good condition with 80% finish. 4/5 Bore (dull bore, light pitting in the grooves). 3/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
Furniture had been previously sanded.
On the right side of the stock, there is a light gouge at the butt near the comb. Light gouge and mild pressure marks on the grip. Inside the finger groove is a checker-patterned pressure mark. On the left side of the stock, there are long mild pressure marks a he butt and light gouges behind the rear barrel band. On the underside of the stock there are light gouges on the pistol grip. Heavy gouge next to the magazine catch and light gouges in front of the magazine plate. Light gouge before the rear barrel band. Very small 1/4" crack at the heel.
Receiver finish is mildly worn and has light pitting throughout. Light patina over the chamber. Both barrel bands have mild finish wear. Light pitting on the top side of the rear barrel band. Mild finish wear throughout the magazine plate, trigger guard, and magazine.
Receiver is P38 stamped, indicating privatization in 1938.
