Antique Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1898, in very good condition with 80% original finish. 5/5 Bore. 3/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine matching serial number.
Stock finish is worn around the butt and has areas of heavy handling wear. Tiger stripe pattern in the handguard.
On the right side of the stock, there are numerous pressure marks of varying severity from the butt through the finger groove. Heavy pressure marks on the pistol grip and a mild gouge on the grip. Mild pressure marks before the rear barrel band. Light gouge in front of the rear barrel band. On the left side of the stock, there are some mild pressure marks and scattered light gouges around the butt. There are a few light gouges on the pistol grip. Heavy handling wear along the side of the stock between the grip and the finger groove. Mild gouge off the left edge of the finger groove. Multiple light and mild pressure marks along the forearm, from the rear of the barrel band to the forward end of the stock. On the underside of the stock, there is a light gouge in front of the rear sling mount. Long scratch to the left of the trigger guard and a heavy gouge to the right of the magazine plate, in front of the magazine catch. Various pressure marks along the comb of the stock. A small repair has been performed near the receiver tang. Handguard has pressure marks throughout. There are a pair of moderate pressure marks adjacent to the rear barrel band, a large gouge on the left side of the handguard in front of the rear barrel band, and a gouge near the front barrel band.
Receiver has light finish wear and light patina. There is a spot of heavy finish wear on the left side of the receiver at the woodline. Light scratches throughout the receiver. Light edge wear around the loading slot and the lightening cuts. Moderate finish wear and light patina on the rear barrel band. Light finish wear and light patina on the front barrel band; heavier patina on the bayonet lug and stacking arm. There is not much finish wear on the magazine plate on the magazine plate, trigger guard, and very light finish wear on the magazine, and these may have been refinished.
No P stamp noted on the receiver.
