Product Description
Swiss Army officer's sword, model 1899. Nickel plated. There is a very elaborate floral-style detail work on the basket guard which includes the Swiss shield. Grip is made of stitched fishskin leather. Fishskin grip is in very good condition. Grip's wire wrapping is tight. Leather finger loop inside guard is intact and leather washer is found at the base of the ricasso.
"03" stamp on the right side of the ricasso underneath the Waffenfabrik Neuhausen stamp indicates this sword was issued in 1903.
Left side of the ricasso is stamped with the four-digit serial number. Roman numeral "II" indicates sword length (810mm / 31.9"). Three lengths were available and issued depending on the officer's leg length. Swiss military acceptance stamp below the roman numeral II.
Includes scabbard. Manufactured by Waffenfabrik Neuhausen.
