Swiss 1896/11 Infantry Rifle, produced in 1899, in good condition with 70% original finish. 4/5 Bore (lightly worn rifling). 4/5 Stock. Stock and handguard matching serial numbers. Bolt matching serial number. Magazine non-matching serial number with serial number 256597 (1900 production).
Tiger striping throughout the stock.
On the right side of the stock, there are some scattered mild pressure marks around the butt and a few light gouges toward the rear of the butt. On the grip there are a couple of light to mild gouges. Moderate pressure marks below the bolt release lever and a small chip on the edge of the stock directly in front of the bolt release lever. Heavy pressure mark to the left of the finger groove. Mild gouge in front of the rear barrel band at the woodline. On the left side of the stock, there are pressure marks throughout the butt. Light gouge at the rear edge of the butt and near the toe. Light gouge on the grip, above the pistol grip. Heavy handling wear from the grip to the finger groove, with multiple marks and light gouges. On the underside of the stock, there are light to mild gouges on the right side of the magazine plate, in front of the magazine catch. Light scratching on the forearm and there are three mild gouges near the front barrel band. Light to mild pressure marks along the comb. Light to mild pressure marks throughout the handguard.
Moderate to heavy finish wear and moderate patina throughout the receiver. Light scratches and surface marks on the rear of the receiver. Heavy finish wear and patina on the rear barrel band. Moderate finish wear and fair patina on the front barrel band. Heavy finish wear and patina on the magazine plate, trigger guard, and magazine.
Both bolt knobs are chipped.
No P stamp noted on receiver.
