Product Description
Swiss officer's dress sword (Galadegen), year of production unknown. Sword measures 32" in overall length, blade is 26 3/4".
Grip appears to be made of nacre (mother of pearl). The brass hilt has a very ornate pattern throughout. On the pommel is a depiction of a human head. The right side of the guard features a lion's head. The left side of the guard features a four-leaf-clover design. On the right side of the quillon is a rounded plate with the Swiss shield flanked by two lion heads. Ornate engraving throughout the blade, much of which has become faint over time.
Felt washer for a scabbard found at the shoulder. No scabbard included.
No identifying stamps found anywhere on the sword.
