Swiss army mountain backpack / rucksack, known as the Rucksack Ordonnanz 44, designed to retain a K11/K31 carbine and supplies. Main body is canvas made of cotton and nettle fibers. Backpack has a main compartment with two internal pockets and drawstring closure top and two external compartments. All three compartments have a storm flap; the two external compartments have one leather strap each to secure the flap, and the main compartment's storm flap has two leather straps. Top flap has a metal button on the front, stamped with a serial number and Swiss cross. Leather trim around the storm flaps, leather straps, and reinforced leather base.
There is a vertical, sleeved channel running through the main compartment and opening through the top flap and the bottom leather panel that is designed to retain a Swiss K11/K31 carbine. Both ends have a drawstring closure.
Backpack is previously issued and used. Canvas will exhibit varying amount of stains and discoloration from use and age. Leather is in good condition but could likely use cleaning and conditioning.
Large rucksack, measures approximately 21.7" x 21.7" x 11.9" and weighs a little over 7 pounds.
